World Book Day celebrations reflect shared love of reading at Northampton High

Pupils enjoy a range of fun reading-based activities in celebration of World Book Day 2023

World Book Day at Northampton High School provided a wonderful opportunity to celebrate books and a shared love of reading!

To mark the occasion, our Senior School pupils enjoyed a morning of reading, using form time as an opportunity to enjoy a good book! This proved an excellent start to the day and a great opportunity for quiet time and focused reading. Year 7 pupils spent the morning in the library, immersed in their chosen novels whilst sat together amongst the bookshelves!

In Junior School, World Book Day was celebrated with the theme of bedtime stories in mind. Pupils and staff decided that the only appropriate way to mark this occasion was to say goodbye to school uniform and wear pyjamas to school instead! The girls were treated to an inspiring assembly to kick off the day, ably led by Northampton High’s very own published authors and Senior School students, Kirsten and Aiyven. After learning all about what it takes to become a successful author, the pupils were encouraged to take advantage of the second hand book stall to find a preloved book to enjoy. The day ended with hot chocolates and a cosy story session for our youngest bookworms, proving the perfect way to celebrate reading!
