Angelie enjoys recent Guard of Honour opportunity

Year 6 pupil privileged to attend the England vs Pakistan cricket game

On Friday 17 May, Angelie in Year 6 had the privilege of being the Guard of Honour for the England vs Pakistan Women T20 match at Wantage Road.

As captain of Northamptonshire’s U11 Girls County Cricket Team, Angelie confidently led her squad onto the pitch whilst proudly waving the Pakistan national flag to honour the opponents. There was music and even pyrotechnics to create a special sense of occasion, and it was wonderful to see so many families with their daughters at the ground to enjoy this game.

There was a great atmosphere of fun and feeling connected with cricketers from other countries using the platform of sport. There were games for younger children to play, including keepy uppys using a bat and ball, and throwing a ball into a hole trying to beat other cricket grounds’ highest score. Angelie loved using the photo booth to take fun photos with her cricket team as a special way to record these amazing memories.

Following the event, she commented: “I loved seeing how full the cricket ground was because it really showed how popular women’s cricket is becoming. It was a great experience that I shall always remember!”

We are continuously grateful to the incredible sportswomen who inspire the next generation, and would like to congratulate Angelie on truly embracing this wonderful opportunity!
