Aspiring author Kirsten raises over £4500 on Kickstarter in effort to see debut novel published

Kirsten and her sister Aiyven have penned their first novels, and hope to see them published with the help of a successful fundraising campaign.

U3 student and aspiring author Kirsten M has made it onto the front pages of ‘Kickstarter’ in a campaign to get her first novel published.

Kirsten and her sister Aiyven, who has also penned her first book, were inspired to write their debut novels after a successful entry into the BBC Radio 500 Words competition. What started out as a fun hobby has now evolved into an exciting journey into the world of publishing, with the girls hoping to get their books printed and onto shelves across the country for people to enjoy.

Kirsten’s book, titled ‘Sagas of Anya’, is a work of historical fiction, which follows the life of 11 year old Anya from a perfect life in Cardiff to a world of drudgery in London, where she is forced to work as a maid for the nasty Mrs Axton. On describing how writing makes her feel, Kirsten said, “It’s fun to create our own different worlds and make new characters and let our minds run wild”.

The girls’ campaign to be published has been a big hit online, with their fundraising page on Kickstarter making it onto the ‘Projects We Love’ page, being seen by thousands of people worldwide. To date, the campaign has raised over £4500 towards their fundraising goal, with the girls hoping to reach their target of £5000 by Sunday 15 March.
