FemSoc donates items to the Hope Centre

Students from FemSoc donate items to the Hope Centre, as collected during Period Poverty Week last academic year.

This Wednesday breaktime, FemSoc welcomed a guest speaker from the Hope Centre, to come into school and collect the items we collected in our very successful Period Poverty Week last academic year.

The Hope Centre is a community charity that is run by local people in Northampton. It strives to provide practical services in order to help people survive poverty and homelessness. These may include a hot meal and a warm, dry place to stay, a hairdresser and company to fend off the loneliness of being on the streets. Moreover, they help people to leave poverty and homelessness through giving training and skills to improve employability as well as campaigning against poverty and negative attitudes that people have towards their service users.

Through FemSoc we hope to continue supporting the Hope Centre and we hope that you will too in the future. If you believe that this cause is important, as we hope you do, please let other people know that it is out there.
