Year 6 girls enjoy the GDST Maths Conference

Six girls in Year 6 enjoyed a day of code-breaking and problem solving at the Year 6 GDST Mathematics Conference.

Year 6 girls found out how to use Caesar and Vigenere ciphers at the GDST Maths Conference. They learnt how important prime numbers are to mathematicians and they had great fun solving some challenging questions in the quiz. The quiz was competitive and with over 100 girls working in teams of six to complete the questions, you could feel the mathematical energy in the room. Our Year 6 team were delighted to be awarded 3rd place. The day also included a tour of the Andrew Wiles building which was designed by architects using mathematical ideas.
