Literary, History and Food Event

A special literary ingredient has been mixed into the Arts Festival programme this year, to help us celebrate 140 years of the Arts in our School.

During the day, we are welcoming two renowned young people’s authors into school to speak to our pupils and children from local community schools. For the younger girls, Monica Withrington will give readings from her books, including The Reluctant Shepherd. Later in the day, for pupils in Year 6 to Year 8, we will have a visit from writer Robin Stevens, author of the Murder Most Unladylike series.

In the evening on Wednesday 27 June, from 5:30pm-7:30pm, we are very happy to be able to invite you to an Audience with Dr Annie Gray, food historian and regular on BBC Radio 4’s Kitchen Cabinet. Her recent publication, The Greedy Queen, looks at Queen Victoria’s passion for food.

To bring this event to life for the students, girls of all ages will be on hand with food and literary-based activities, including a link to our History department and recreating dishes from the Victorian era.

Refreshments will be available from 5:30pm. Please do come along and bring friends and family to join in.  All welcome!
