Welcome back to all our year groups who have now physically returned to the Junior School!

It has been such an uplifting first full week back, with buzzing classrooms, excited chatter on the playgrounds and long overdue (socially distanced) reunions between friends!  Thank you so much to staff, parents and our girls for making this week such a success.  We have made use of the incredible weather by taking our learning out to the Forest School, performing Shakespeare under our tree canopies and getting fit and active on our school field for Sports Day.

With two more weeks to go we will be continuing our excellent learning provision with further live assemblies, transition events and socially distanced end of year activities.  Thank you all for your lovely comments and uplifting smiles on the school gate; it has been an absolute joy to see you all again in person.

Virtual School Sports Day

As you will have seen in previous editions of School News and on our Social Media channels, today we have been delighted to host our first ever Virtual School Sports Day!

Sports Day is one of our favourite days of the year, and despite the current global situation we didn’t want to let the occasion pass without some fun and friendly competition. We look forward to bringing you a detailed account of the days events during next week, but for the time being we are delighted to share with you a few images from the days events.

We hope all students had an enjoyable day!

U3 Science students study Germination

Our students in U3 have been hard at work during Guided Home Learning, practicing Science in exciting ways.

The girls have been conducting experiments at home with seeds, investigating the conditions needed for germination – some of the girls have even grown popcorn after instruction from Mr Attwood!

The below pictures are of Lexi and Isla with their seed germination experiments that are coming along great. Well done girls!

Fun in Reception

Students in Reception have been having fun this week!

We have been making the most of our beautiful surroundings at Northampton High by visiting Forest School. The girls have been on the hunt for minibeasts and tasting the lovely loganberries! We have also been looking after our caterpillars – they have grown so much!

Meet Doris!

Meet Doris! Doris is a ‘Dogasaurus’ that was created in the Nursery in Junior School, made with the help of key workers’ children who came to school during the lockdown.

All students from Nursery up to Year 8 who were in school during that time were involved in Doris’ creation, using large boxes and paper mache to make the body, before decorating with paint and rainbows!

We think Doris is fabulous; a collaboration from many age groups in our school community, and she can be found residing in the front entrance of Junior School.

Creative Arts Spotlight

We are delighted to bring you the latest edition of the Creative Arts Spotlight.

As we get closer to the end of the school year, the fantastic work continues to pour in and its great to share our students work with you once more.

Up first in this weeks edition, we bring you a still life drawing of some make up courtesy of Katie in U4 (opposite). Below, we see two wonderful submissions by Dishaa in U4 (bottom left) and Varnikaa in L4 (bottom right), who both showcase fantastic drawing skills using shading and colour.

Our L4 students have been working hard on one of their current topics, ‘Still Life Colour Study’ and they have been turning in some fantastic pieces of work! Please see the below submissions from Laura, Jasmine and Anna, who showcase the desired skills wonderfully.

Grace in U4 has been very proudctive over the past few weeks, practicing her shading and pencil drawings to great effect. Please find three of her latest pieces below.

For our last entry of this weeks edition, we bring you a gallery featuring submissons from Hannah U4, Annika U4, Ashmita U4, Eva L4, Hannah U4 and Heidi U4. In these drawings, the girls showcase their fantastic skill set, showing a good understanding of shading and colour. Great work!

Another week of exemplary work completed by our fantastic students. As always, you can view full size versions of the images by clicking here, and we look forward to sharing more work with you next week!
