Pastoral Care & Wellbeing
Our programme of care and guidance in the Sixth Form is about forging a secure identity and forming friendships and connections to last a lifetime.
Colleagues foster excellent working relationships with the students – and the warmth and strength of these bonds is a hallmark of the school that is invariably acknowledged by visitors. The tutor system continues at Key Stage 5, but is run by a team of specialist tutors who have a wealth of experience in guidance for Higher Education and the world of work beyond school. Tutors meet the girls daily and build a detailed knowledge of each individual to further understand their future aspirations. The Careers Coordinator also plays a fundamental part in this process for Sixth Form students.
Easing The Pressure
Through tailored guidance that combines our knowledge of the shifting scene of Higher Education, apprenticeships training and the workplace with our understanding of students as individuals, we offer every girl a helping hand to negotiate the opportunities of Sixth Form. Looking beyond school forms a focal point for our A Level students. We recognise the pressures of public exams at all stages, but particularly A Levels, and the wider pastoral and wellbeing teams are on hand to support individuals navigate trickier waters.
Life isn’t always plain sailing, of course. That’s why our multi-layered support framework – personal tutor, pastoral lead, school counsellor, wellbeing practitioner and Director of Sixth Form – always offers a reassuring ear to listen and well-being support, or another strategy to try.
Not only is it our duty to protect the well-being and safety of our students, we are dedicated to helping as much as we can, with every element of their time here. Even the biggest waves break eventually!
