Student life is about much more than academic success – so we encourage you to pursue an active, engaged and balanced lifestyle.
Clubs and societies thrive in all areas, led jointly by staff and Sixth Formers. Competitive debating, the Eco team and groups for those with particular vocational interests (such as MedSoc and EngSoc) are all well supported. New student-led initiatives are encouraged and we’re always keen to introduce new activities in line with your interests.
In addition, you’ll have opportunities to acquire an extensive collection of skills and interests. You may decide to form your own Enterprise Company and discover what running your own business is really like. You may want to volunteer in the local community. Or you may want to take advantage of our ‘sports for all’ philosophy through activities ranging from hockey and rugby to badminton and dance.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme thrives at Northampton High School and we offer World Challenge expeditions bi-annually: recently, for instance, girls have visited Costa Rica, China, Ecuador and Malaysia.
Music and drama flourish across the school, with Sixth Form girls taking leading roles in productions and concerts. Sixth Formers also often run clubs and activities for younger girls and act as role models for them during House competitions.
As part of a larger school community, you’ll enjoy a wide range of leadership opportunities. As a member of the Sixth Form, you can set the tone for the school and take the lead – be that as a Subject Champion, Head Girl or Deputy, House Captain or Sports Captain.
Many of our Sixth Form students also take on positions of responsibility in the Junior School, by assisting in the classroom or participating in the Reading Buddies and Number Partners programmes. There are also opportunities to participate in our Outreach programme, devising and delivering workshops in local primary schools.
