Pastoral Care & Wellbeing

Pastoral care is the responsibility of all members of staff at Northampton High school and they take their role seriously.

Senior School pupils have both a dedicated Form tutor, and co tutor to support them through the academic year. Where possible, the form tutor will remain the same during the time spent in year 7 to 11, and we aim for consistency across these 5 important years.

Additionally, we are lucky to be ably supported by our expert medical and wellbeing team, who spend time getting to know the girls and supporting them with the pressures of change and transition from junior school and up into the public exam years.

The needs of our girls change as they move through the key stages, and so we also have Heads of Year who are experienced in guiding the girls through the various transition points. We split these into a Head of Year 7, managing transition into senior school; Head of Years 8 and 9, building their sense of self and preparing them for making their first round of academic decisions for their GCSE’s; and Head of Year 10 and 11, supporting the GCSE years and enabling smooth transition into the 6th form and the A Level years.

All staff here are advocates of outstanding pastoral care, and we are able to centre this around bespoke spaces in school to accommodate for a wide variety of different support methods. The road may sometimes be tough, but our resolve is tougher!
