Our Year 8 students recently enjoyed an exciting day off timetable, immersing themselves in the ‘Future Airline Challenge’. This engaging event tasked them with exploring the intricate world of international travel to create a new subsidiary airline for British Airways, designed to complement its existing CityFlyer and EuroFlyer brands.
Students were challenged to consider every aspect of their new airline, from identifying their target customer and preferred destinations to ensuring a high-quality service, all while maintaining sustainability and commercial viability. This comprehensive task encouraged them to think strategically and innovatively about the complexities of the aviation industry.
By participating in this challenge, Year 8 students across the country are enhancing their understanding of essential skills crucial for future success, including teamwork, communication, and problem-solving. Furthermore, the initiative helps young people bridge the gap between education and employment, empowering them to make informed decisions about their career paths and understand the skills required for the modern workforce.
Our girls performed brilliantly, showcasing exceptional creativity, cooperation, and the invaluable ability to think on their feet. A special congratulations goes to the winning team: Emily C, Erin A, Avleen S, Ellie J-M, Ishani S, and Pippa L. This talented group will now go on to represent our school at The National Careers Challenge Grand Finals in July 2025! We wish them the very best of luck!
