Supporting Healthy Relationships with Food

Eat the Rainbow!

Across Northampton High School, we’re encouraging students to “eat the rainbow” – enjoying a wide variety of colourful fruits and vegetables every day. Each colour group provides different vitamins, minerals and antioxidants, all helping to support good health, energy and immunity.

This initiative begins in the Junior School, with health-promotion boards, assemblies and PSHE lessons inspiring pupils to make healthy, balanced choices. We hope these positive habits will continue at home and into adulthood, helping students develop a long-lasting appreciation for nutritious, enjoyable food.

Supporting Every Child

We recognise that not every student finds eating easy. Some may face challenges due to food sensitivities, allergies, neurodiversity, limited food intake or other factors.

As a school, we are committed to working closely with families to provide the best support for each child. This includes a team approach involving the catering team, Heads of Year and tutors, ensuring that every student’s dietary and nutritional needs are met in a caring and inclusive environment.

If you’re ever concerned about your child’s relationship with food, please speak to your GP or contact our School Nurse, Katie Dunkley directly for advice. Together, we can explore whether additional support or a referral might be helpful. For further advice or to discuss any concerns, please contact k.dunkley@nhs.gdst.net
