Whilst our Year 10 Doubles team had a hard-fought contest seeing the team narrowly lose, with the match being extremely close throughout. Our final match against Oundle was the Mixed Doubles (Year 10 & 11): Both matches were competitive, but the teams ultimately lost to a strong Oundle side in close encounters.
Abbeyfield:
In our Year 11 Singles: Both players had dominant victories, securing wins by a landslide. Whilst the Year 10 Doubles had a strong performance from the team, with a convincing win against their opponents. In Mixed Doubles (Year 10 & 11): A mixed bag, with one match won comfortably and the other lost by a very narrow margin, against tight competition.

We knew that Nottingham High would be a tough team to play, and so practiced diligently in our warm up to get ready. The first quarter was tough and despite some good attacking play we went down 8-2. Grace F led the scoring with precise shooting, while Zoe and Grace P contributed key goals with impressive composure. Harriet capped off the attacking effort with brilliant finishes, keeping the opposition defence on their toes. Defensively we worked very hard with great interceptions and pressure applied, however Nottingham were too strong for us, and despite a much improved 3rd and 4th quarter, we lost 24-11.
Player of the Match was Grace F

U14A Netball v Quinton House
Won 26:4
On Tuesday 28 January the Year 9 A netball team played a match against Quinton House. The team showed high levels of skill throughout the game with great mid court from Amelia, Olivia, and Mollie linking up defence and attack and taking the ball down court to goal. The defence from Kara, Elise and Emily put a lot of pressure on the opposition, getting rebounds and intercepts and preventing the ball from getting to their attacking circle. The shooters including Lucy, Peony and myself worked hard in the shooting circle to get into good positions under the post and the shooting accuracy was high. There were great feeds into the circle to the shooters from Amelia, Mollie and Elise. The team showed great communication and had a drive to win despite the rain at the end of the match. The overall score was 14:3 with Emily F as Player of the Match.

Senior Tennis
Wednesday 29 January
On Wednesday 29 January, the Northampton High School tennis team played Wycombe Abbey School in the first tennis fixture of the autumn term. The matches were of a high standard and all the girls should be proud of how they played, each match having long rallies and lots of deuces but sadly we lost our singles 4-0. We really enjoyed the doubles and there was epic competition in both, losing in matches that were closer than the score line reflects with Wycombe Abbey winning 6-1 and 6-2. The girls had lots of fun and have used the matches as a learning experience and are looking forward to competing again in the near future! Special shout out to Frankie B who had to fill in last minute due to a team member no longer being able to play!

U13AB Netball vs Northampton School
U13B
On Monday 3 February, our A and B teams played against Northampton School. Overall it was a solid performance by the B team. We played a strong game in the first quarter both in defence and attack, and the teams were level at 1-1 at the end of the first quarter, with a lovely goal by Anashe for us. We played with a lot of determination but by half time the opposition were ahead 2-1.
We came up with some plans after discussions during the break.
After half time, we had a great goal by Ellie in the third quarter that tied the score at 2-2. In the last quarter we didn’t give up and had a tight defence but also leaned into the attacking zone. We were able to pass the ball down the court, looking for different spaces and Deleena, well supported by Jess U, was able to shoot 3 phenomenal goals giving us a hard earned win. The Player of the Match went to Deleena for her highly skilful goals. Overall, we played amazingly well and everyone made a great contribution to the team giving us a great result. It was a really fun match to play.
U14AB vs Nottingham High School
Due to unforeseen circumstances Nottingham school could not bring 3 teams as planned and so we decided to split the fixture into a mini tournament style event.
The match against Nottingham was a great match. The A team started off well with the score being 3-2 to Nottingham . Safiya and Peony were an amazing duo in the circle and Lucy’s feeds were great . Olivia played C and she got free very well, and Kara was all over her player at GK. The second quarter was also good. The score was 3-3 in the second quarter. The defence was amazing as we didn’t let them score a goal in that last quarter. After those two quarters we played against their B team. We played very well and there was a special appearance of Lucy in C and she played well. We beat them 7-5. The Players of the Match were Olivia W and Elise R.
