The Northampton High School Eco Team are proud to announce that we have been awarded the prestigious Eco Schools Green Flag Award again, this time with Distinction.
This has been based on the hard work of the student led group, who focused on a range of initiatives, including learning how to make detergent out of conkers, creating bug hotels and organising regular litter picks of the local area. The group is looking to successfully retain the flag this academic year and are always open to new members.
The Eco Team have been working with the Eco-Schools scheme for over a decade, and are proud to receive the news of a distinction with the Green Flag Award as very few schools in the UK achieve such a prestigious award.
As Deputy Head of Sustainability, I believe we should continue to spread awareness for a greener future. The Eco Team continues to raise money for sustainability driven initiatives, for example the second hand book sale for One Tree Day. Through weekly meetings, assemblies to senior and junior school on how to Cut your Carbon and eco-friendly activities with Dr Lines, the Eco Team has successfully shared the importance of doing your part to improve your carbon footprint.
I believe that it is important to continue to educate the younger years and strive for positive environmental action within our school. Keep a look out for an email to parents on how students can take part in Cut your Carbon this November for a chance to gain Epraise points!
