We are delighted to share the Northampton High students who were awarded with a Head’s Commendation on Friday 28 November 2025.
The nominated students were presented with their awards in the Senior School Foyer surrounded by their peers and teachers, who congratulated them for their special achievements. They were also given the opportunity to decorate the Senior School foyer Christmas Tree with Dr Lee.
Throughout this half term, each of these students have shown kindness and demonstrated a high dedication to school life, both in their school work and extracurricular activities!
Dr Lee presented the girls with their certificates and sweets; a huge well done to this amazing group for their positive attitudes and contributions this academic year!
The Head’s Commendation was awarded to the following students:
Sarah H – ‘Excellent attitude (truly!) to learning, feedback, improvement, resilience – comes to every Latin workshop to help her revision, asks for feedback, asks if unsure of anything, but also supports her friends (she accompanies them to German revision club, even though she doesn’t do German, to make sure they go!)’
Alesha S – ‘Really trying incredibly hard, spending way, way over and above on prep to try and improve, is implementing strategies from the revision workshops in her learning, despite her hand injury and pain.’
Aurelia T – ‘Scored 99% in her autumn assessment in Latin despite handwriting (should have typed, as she has a hand injury, and it caused her a lot of pain) – she has also led, advertised and organised a Myth Club for her peers, developed slides and resources for the club (e.g. Ancient Egyptian gods and myths) and is organising them to enter the EMAC Art competition this year.’
Caitlin M – ‘She has attended Knit and Knatter since she started in Year 7, and has gone from not being able to remember how to knit to a competent knitter. She knits a lot in her spare time, knitting things over the holidays, which will (eventually) go towards a stall at the Christmas Fayre. She has come such a long way, and her enthusiasm is infectious. She is so proud of the things she has created.’
Erin M – ‘Erin is the model of what a sixth former should be. She is a house leader but more importantly her work ethic is exemplary. She is methodic so tasks are completed in a timely manner showing commitment and effort. Erin is always willing to accept advice and acts upon it and she has a smile for everyone.’
Caoimhe H-T – ‘Caoimhe qualified for two World Championships in Irish Dancing (the CRG World Championships in Galway and the OPIDF World Championships in Liverpool). She performed beautifully and was placed highly at both competitions – an absolutely stellar achievement. However, what makes us most proud is the way Caoimhe clapped and cheered for the girls who placed above her, which speaks volumes about her generosity and kindness.’
Sophie H-W – ‘For feedback on a recent parent tour that she took. The parent said how fantastic Sophie was and extremely knowledgeable. As a parent that has been through this process, I can say it is most indicative of the ethos of the school when you are shown around by someone so passionate and personable.’
Miss Kneen – ‘For her inventive, touching and hilarious assembly for Children in Need. The message of the power of kindness was inspirational for the whole school community. The look of joy on the Year 1 girls’ faces will stay with me forever as will the sight of Khushi trying to push icing back into its bag without spreading it all over herself!’
Lexi F – ‘Lexi has not shied away from the challenge of stepping up to A Level Biology. She has been trialing different methods of independent study to find out an approach that best supports her learning, demonstrating maturity and initiative. In lessons, Lexi asks thoughtful questions and actively seeks out teachers for clarification to ensure she can complete tasks on time and to a high standard. She prepares thoroughly for her practical work and shows commendable composure during complex procedures, taking a moment to pause, reread instructions, and regain focus when needed. Lexi’s attitude to learning is outstanding. She is taking clear, intentional steps to support her own progress, she is highly deserving of a Head’s commendation.’
Darcy – ‘For her start to the GCSE Chemistry course. She is always enthusiastic despite finding it a challenge and her recent assessment shows she has worked both in school and out as her result was above and beyond her expectations. She has really embraced being 10% braver and is willing to give everything a go in class and volunteers answers and asks very good questions.’
Nirali S – ‘Represented the school in the Crystall Prize competition on Friday 14 November and did incredibly well. Her speech entitled ‘Can we ever escape the mistakes of the past?’ was engaging, informative and well-researched. She also handled the questions from the audience at Oxford High School with wit and confidence.’
Abhidhya M – ‘Abby wrote a very moving and touching poem titled ‘Remembrance Day at School’ to commemorate all those who gave their lives. She composed the poem independently, drawing her inspiration from the two minutes’ silence held at school.
