Moving up to Senior School - Managing the transition
Moving from Junior to Senior School is an important milestone in your daughter’s development. It can feel very exciting but also a little nerve wracking too.
It is therefore really important that your daughter feels prepared for life in senior school and at Northampton High we offer a wide range of opportunities to ensure that this transition is as smooth as possible.
The transition process at Northampton High School starts from the moment your daughter walks through our doors for the very first time and is introduced to a new and exciting environment, offering limitless possibilities. This might be on an Open Day, attending a special event or even coming in for a taster day to find out how the school works on a daily basis.
Assessment Day
Even on our assessment day we ensure that your daughters have the opportunity to take part in a variety of engaging activities, giving them an opportunity to meet members of staff and work collaboratively with their peers.
Once your daughter has accepted her place at Northampton High School further opportunities, during the summer term, are offered to ensure a successful transition from Junior to Senior School. These opportunities include a Welcome Evening where your daughters will meet their form tutor and form group, a day at Willen Lake taking part in a range of exciting collaborative tasks and a day in school where girls have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a ‘Dragon’s Den’ style activity.
Preparing for the year
In September, your daughter will be invited into school the day before the start of the academic year. During this afternoon event your daughter will connect with their form tutors again, receive their timetable and be given help to log on to their devices. There will also be plenty of opportunities for your daughters to ask any questions that they might have.
An exciting journey full of opportunities lies ahead for your daughter. With our support she will grow to be a strong and independent woman who will be confident to step into the wider world and make the most of what lies ahead.
