A Level lessons at Northampton High School GDST are taught by highly experienced, passionate professionals, with a track record of academic success. Small class sizes allow for highly personalised learning to enable students to fully realise their academic potential, with the ease of contact with staff providing high levels of support for students to seek guidance and develop their meta cognitive skills.
Rich extracurricular programme
Choosing an outstanding Sixth Form needs to extend far beyond the classroom and at Northampton High School GDST we take pride in our electives programme, offering a wide range of activities for students to extend their academic prowess, further their university ambitions and develop wider skills and confidence. Options range from Performing Arts, Photography and Politics to Yoga and Young Philanthropy. Notable highlights include STEMSoc, where students are given careful guidance and enrichment to prepare them for future careers such as Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Sciences, whilst the GDST LEAD programme, which is run in conjunction with the London School of Economics, teaches entrepreneurial skills and teamwork.
Community Spirit
Northampton High School GDST promotes a small family feel within the Sixth Form, where students regularly collaborate with each other, be this through their academic studies, the vibrants series of house events, organised by the students themselves, or through philanthropic activities. The close integration of students within the Sixth Form is enhanced by our newly introduced vertical tutoring system, where students from both Years 12 and 13 are grouped together in order to promote opportunities for peer mentoring.
Confident and Fearless Learners
Ultimately the most important metric by which we judge success at Northampton High School is how our students have developed through their learning journey with us, to become confident, fearless and independent learners that are set on their own chosen path for post A Level success. Therefore we are rightly proud of our students successfully attaining places at prestigious universities, such as Oxford, prestigious courses, such as Medicine or securing competitive degree apprenticeships. However we are equally proud of students that choose to stay local, pursue a foundation course to fully prepare for undergraduate study or take a direct entry into the workplace. Each of our students is an individual and leaves the Sixth Form confident and empowered to make the correct choices to fit their individual circumstances; we believe in our girls and they believe in themselves.
