Legacy Giving

Most great schools survive and prosper due to the stewardship of earlier generations. At Northampton High School, every girl is the beneficiary of generations who have gone before her. By making a bequest  to Northampton High School, you will help create wonderful opportunites for the talented young women of tomorrow.

We have always been committed to giving bursaries, in order to offer an outstanding education to talented girls from a wide range of backgrounds regardless of their financial circumstances.

The 1878 Society has been created as a way to thank the friends of Northampton High School who have chosen to leave a gift in their Will in support of the school. Also, for those who gave generously to our Endowment and Appeal fund. We have always given bursaries to as many deserving girls as possible and the 1878 Society members will enable us to continue this for years to come so girls continue to benefit from a Northampton High School education.

If you decide to make a bequest to NHS and do not request anonymity, you will be invited to become a member of The 1878 Society and will be asked every year to a lunch or similar event by the Headmistress with other members of the school and staff. This will be an opportunity for the school to thank you for your continued friendship, to keep you up to date with current plans and listen to your ideas and views.

The Annual Lunch for The 1878 Society

In February,  we were pleased to welcome guests to our annual 1878 Society Lunch. The 1878 Society has been created as a way to thank the friends of Northampton High School who have chosen to leave a gift in their Will in support of the school. Also, for those who gave generously to our Endowment and Appeal fund, a campaign for bursaries in the late 90’s.

We enjoyed a delicious lunch in the Junior School Hall and afterwards were treated to entertainment by some of the girls. The Junior Choir were the first to delight us with three songs which they sang beautifully, accompanied by Mrs Miller on the piano. Next to perform were two of our ballerinas who danced with great elegance and poise.  A contrasting act followed as we saw some amusing extracts from the upcoming production of the Twits. Musical entertainment came next with three pieces from our talented flute quartet and finally to round off a wonderful concert, the wind quartet played for us. A few guests then went down for a tour of the Nursery and to hear about the recent changes with the Nursery now being open year round.

The 1878 Society guests had a wonderful time and particularly enjoyed the opportunity to see our talented girls perform.
