All girls participate in Physical Education and sport as part of the curriculum and experience a wide range of activities such as traditional team games, gymnastics, fitness, swimming and racket sports. Other activities such as rugby, trampolining and volleyball are offered as the girls progress through the school. Our superb facilities include a sports hall, dance studio, fitness suite, astroturf, netball and tennis courts plus 3 grass hockey pitches.and our superb 25m swimming pool enables all students to participate recreationally and competitively.
We strongly believe in access to sport for all and encourage everybody to join in, recreationally or competitively, fostering a positive attitude towards health, fitness and physical recreation. As well as personal achievement, we place great emphasis on communication, teamwork and helping others.
The sporting programme here is very lively. We have strong links with many outside clubs enabling talented individuals to extend their sporting performance and in school, there is a vast array of lunchtime and after school clubs on offer. Our teams enjoy comprehensive fixture lists and continue to build on their successes at local, regional and national competitions while bi-annual ski trips to Europe or the USA, as well as an overseas sports touring programme being in place and also variety of visits to national and local sporting events are hugely popular.
The school also offers GCSE and A level Physical Education, both of which are very successful with several girls each year continuing their sports studies at university. The older students are encouraged to help coach the younger girls as well as organise competitions and the Community Sports Leadership Award is available to all girls in the Sixth Form.
