The curriculum has been designed to provide a strong foundation for further education and flexibility of future choices. Girls usually take nine GCSEs in total, the compulsory subjects being English, Mathematics, a Modern Foreign Language: (French, German or Spanish) and either Dual Award Science or Separate Sciences. Optional subjects include Art, Drama, Food, Geography, History, Latin, a second Modern Foreign Language, Music, Physical Education, Philosopy and Ethics, Stastics and Textiles. In addition, the curriculum is enhanced by non-examination subjects such as Careers, Citizenship (Yr 11 only), Core Physical Education, General Divinity and PSHE.
Strong teaching provision is supported by the school's outstanding facilities and pupils are encouraged to question and think independently; to make use of the extensive library to optimum advantage and ICT is fully embedded throughout the curriculum. Within this supportive framework of academic guidance and close pastoral care, the girls visibly grow in confidence and look forward to new challenges and responsibilties.
