Music forms an essential part of the curriculum and the musical life of the Junior School is vibrant. From Year 4 (age 8) girls can have individual music lessons and a high proportion take advantage of the opportunity to learn to play instruments, ranging from piano and violin to saxophone and drums.
Catering for all ages, the music curriculum includes listening, singing and composition and everyone is encouraged to join in and experiment. The Junior School music room is well resourced with a wide choice of instruments including a drum kit and keyboards and the girls participate in a variety of events, from Harvest and Christmas services to concerts and productions performed for parents and vistors. There is tremendous extra-currciular provision with a diverse programme and eclectic styles, including a choir, jazz band, orchestra, flute choir and guitar group.
