Scholarships Scholarships are awarded to girls who are exceptionally talented in a certain area; academic, sports or arts. They are a celebrated achievement. The scholarships awarded each year vary in amounts, however we do not offer full scholarship awards. At 11+ (girls joining our Upper Third) a number of Academic Scholarships are awarded to those who score the highest marks in the Entrance Examination in January. Therefore 11+ Academic Scholarships do not require a separate application. We also offer an Arts and a Sports Scholarship at this level, which are awarded after application and interview. At 13+ (girls joining our Upper Fourth) we offer a number of Academic Scholarships which are awarded on the basis of an essay which is taken just after the Entrance Examination in the January prior to entry. At 15+ (girls joining our Sixth Form) we offer a number of Academic Scholarships which are awarded on the basis of an essay which is taken in the November prior to the September entry. Bursaries Bursaries are used to provide a life-changing opportunity for bright but financially disadvantaged girls who would otherwise not have had a chance of an independent education. They are means-tested, based upon household income and assets, and are awarded to eligible girls who perform particularly well on the entrance examination or Sixth Form Scholarship examination; not everyone who is eligible for a Bursary will necessarily receive one. Bursaries are usually only offered to those entering Upper Third or Sixth Form. How to apply All girls registered as entering Upper Third, Upper Fourth and Sixth Form are asked if they would like to apply for a Scholarship or Bursary (where applicable) in the October prior to entry. Please register early so that you receive all the information on Scholarships, Bursaries and the admissions process promptly; allowing plenty of time to fill in and return the necessary forms. We often receive Registration Forms months and years in advance and we like to invite these registered families along to school events during the year so that the girls can start to get a feel for life at Northampton High School. You can find the Registration Form here. More information on joining the school can be found in our Frequently Asked Questions Page. |
