Life in the Sixth Form is challenging and exciting. A time of transition between school and university, girls at Northampton High School have tremendous opportunities to achieve academic success as they take increasing responsibility for their lives and discover new freedoms.
Sixth Form students are respected as adults; they are trusted to manage their time, which is now more flexible, and enjoy privileges such as wearing their own clothes and driving to school. Very much still part of the school, Sixth Form girls also enjoy their own facilities including common rooms, kitchens and a study room. In this relaxed and intimate environment, strong friendships are forged, many of which last for life.
New freedoms bring new responsibilities and the students are expected to be role models for the younger girls and to embrace leadership opportunities, which could be in Head Girl or deputy roles or running committees. Our team of enthusiastic and supportive staff develop strong working relationships with each student and the girls respond positively to being seen as an equal, regularly commenting on how much they enjoy this phase of their school life.
We are proud to see girls leaving Northampton High School as confident and able young women, equipped not just with qualifications, but also with a wealth of experiences, an appetite for more - and a lot of happy memories.
