Four Upper Four students were invited to spend the day at Belvedere School as participants in the Northern Trust Academic Challenge. Whilst their peers were competing in the Sports Rally, the four girls, Rebecca, Amber, Maya and Shivani, all Upper Fourth girls, were competing with other GDST students in various tasks focusing on skill and knowledge in all subject areas. Shivani said, “I really enjoyed all the activities and learnt a lot about how to be enterprising and meeting new people”. The GDST offers many opportunities for our students to interact with other GDST students, making new friends. For the Design and Technology brief students had to design a bag with an eye catching logo which had to hold the weight of a book. Maya particularly enjoyed a pair task which involved testing your general knowledge. All girls were surprised about winning as the Big Quiz was really difficult. Amber said, “The trophy was snazzy and it was great to beat Sheffield who won two years running”. The girls wanted to say thank you to all the staff supporting them on the day. Overall, it was a great day, enjoyed by all.
