We are pleased to announce that after an extensive audit of the systems that support ICT within the school we have achieved the prestigious ICT Mark Award. This award recognises the school’s success in developing the strategic use of ICT administratively and across the curriculum and is awarded to schools on the fulfillment of a long list of specified criteria.

An external assessor visited the school on Friday and observed a variety of lessons, in both Junior and Senior School, where ICT was being used by both staff and students. A series of interviews then followed where further evidence was gathered from a number of teaching and administrative staff, as well as student representatives from all year groups. At the end of the day the assessor was incredibly complimentary about the school and thanked us for the welcome that he had been given.

The awarding of the mark comes at the same time as the school is undergoing many developments regarding ICT. The first of these will be evident in September with the refurbishment over the summer of the IT suite to become the new eLearning Centre . We are also lucky to be involved with the GDST (Girls' Day School Trust) iPad pilot and as a result of this the school will receive two full class sets of these fantastic learning aids to trial and keep. In addition, FONHS (Friend of Northampton High School) have also been kind enough to donate a substantial amount of money to fund the purchase of two iMacs for the room and we are excited about the ways in which these are going to be used to complement and expand the curriculum.
