The Year 3 girls have now completed a Spring Term topic on China.  The focus for the topic was a pair of embroidered tiger shoes made for a child in about 1900.  The girls learnt about the stories surrounding the shoes and how they were given to a child to protect it from evil spirits.  The girls also learnt about the customs associated with the first year of a child’s life, the endangered Chinese tiger as well as discovering other facts about China. The final part of the project was the designing and making of felt shoes and decorating them with stitching and beading.

The Education officers from the Central Museum in Northampton visited the school recently to look at the project and have decided that they would like to display some of the shoes at the museum as part of the ongoing Cultural Olympiad!
